Examination Objectives 

  • Understand the fundamental aspects of the Indian securities market and the depository system, including the necessity for a depository and its key characteristics in India.
  • Comprehend the institutional framework of the Indian depository system and the roles of its business partners.
  • Grasp the regulatory environment governing depositories and Depository Participants (DPs), including their eligibility criteria, registration procedures, and their respective rights and obligations.
  • Acquire knowledge of various functions performed by Depositories and Depository Participants, such as dematerialisation, trading and settlement processes, pledging, and hypothecation.
  • Understand the procedure for opening a demat account, the required documentation, and the significance of a Power of Attorney (POA).

Assessment Structure 

  • It consists of 100 questions, with each question carrying 1 mark.
  • The total duration for completing the examination is 2 hours.
  • A passing score of 60 percent is required.
  • There is a negative marking scheme, where 25 percent of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for incorrect answers.
